Marseille Legacy Tour Cancelled – A Message from Jon Burns

A message from our CEO & Founder, Jon Burns

It is with deepest regret and a heavy heart that I need to communicate that my board and I have decided cancel the upcoming Lionsraw legacy tour to France.

The terrible attacks on Paris in January and November 2015 has meant that France has been on the highest level of security, a state of emergency and we have been tracking this very closely. We have taken advice from police liaison for fan groups and the British consulate advice and we have had for several months a complete action plan to mitigate risks where possible including an emergency response plan.

However, in recent days I personally have become increasingly unsure of how we could offer any certainty about taking volunteers into this situation with any personal comfort. Something may or may not happen in Marseille during the next few weeks, we just don’t know.

I do not personally want to give into terror or fear, and I may still personally attend, I am discussing that with my family. That said I no longer feel I can take responsibility for leading a group into Marseille. We have discussed this at length with board members and trusted locals in Marseille, we have listened to various opinions as you would expect. I have not arrived at this decision lightly and the board have reluctantly agreed it is the correct course of action.

We have contacted those who have signed up come to Marseille directly via email and have initiated resolving the obvious fall out from this decision.
