Lionsraw’s Match for a Day on Teesside
From 10am Saturday March 4th through to 10am Sunday 5th March 2017
What is match for a day?
Match for a Day is an event designed to raise funds for the work of Lionsraw with under privileged children in Teesside and in other locations including our South Africa feeding programme and our Brazil based English language school. Lionsraw are seeking to add further projects in the Tees Valley and as such we would also like this event to help us raise awareness of our plans to work specifically in the Teesside area.
A Lionsraw team will play against 24 different teams over a 24 hour period hence the name, Match for a Day. This dedicated bunch will each raise sponsorship money for the charity and in turn we will ensure that we get them a fresh and raring team every hour to keep spirits and energy as they endure and hopefully enjoy the experience.
When and where?
We are very close to confirming the exact location, it will be based in Teesside so will be very accessible. The event will run from 10am on Saturday March 4th until 10am on Sunday 5th March, a full 24 hours of football. The facilities will include showers, a kitchen, changing rooms etc and will very likely be indoor so you will have all you need to complete the challenge, stay warm and keep well fed!
How can I take part?
There are a few ways you can take part, some more challenging than others!
You could play for Lionsraw…we’re recruiting 21 players to play for the entire 24 hours against 24 opponents, we ask that you raise a minimum of £125 in personal sponsorship support in order be part of the Lionsraw team.
You could bring a team…we’re seeking 24 teams to come and fill the 24 available playing slots and to keep our Lionsraw team on their toes as they raise money for Lionsraw. Teams should be 8 a side plus subs if you would like, they can be mixed teams as long as they are aged 13. Your team should be able to commit to a specific one hour slot of your choice subject to availability.
Whether your team is a business team, a bunch of mates or even an established team we will welcome the challenge, your team will commit to raising or paying either £150 for the one hour game or £75 for it, depending on the time of day.
For games starting between 10am and 9pm on Saturday 4th your team should raise a minimum of £150. For games starting 10pm on Saturday 4th until the final game at 9am on Sunday 5th your team should raise a minimum of £75 – of course we will welcome more if you are successful in doing so!
You or your business could sponsor something…if you would prefer not to exert energy we can talk to you about sponsoring part or all of the event, you could sponsor refreshments, t-shirts, the venue or even the referees. Get in touch if you would like to talk to us about how you might get involved in this way.
