This website will also give you full details of the conditions that we must abide by to maintain our charitable status.

We request that all volunteers are fully aware of the nature of the project and country they are visiting before arrival by reading information supplied by Lionsraw on our website and other materials easily found on the internet. We request that all applicants agree that the amount paid for a volunteer placement is acceptable before making their booking.

We recommend that you research other volunteer organisations to compare the services we provide and our costs before applying. We are a non-profit charity organisation and therefore keep applicants fees to the minimum possible whilst maintaining a high standard of service and substantial donation levels to the projects we work with.

Project information must be used as a guide only, changes may occur in hours worked, volunteer duties or accommodation to allow the projects to be flexible.

By making an application for a volunteer placement you are deemed to have agreed to all the terms and conditions in this document without exception. All bookings are deemed to be subject to and governed by the Laws of England and Wales no matter what the nationality of the volunteer.

Changes to your programme

In the unlikely event that a volunteer is unable to take up their placement on their chosen Legacy Tour for reasons which are beyond our control and are not included under “Force Majeure”, we will endeavour In such circumstances to find a replacement placement but we cannot accept liability or pay compensation.

Events beyond our control may make the operation of our programmes and tour impossible (strikes, protests, flight cancellation, climatic conditions, overbooking by hotels and airlines). In this situation we will suggest possible solutions and try to operate the planned programme. Any extra costs incurred in this situation will not be covered by Lionsraw.

Child Protection Policy

Accommodation and Transport

Due to the nature of the countries in which our projects operate, the standards of accommodation and hygiene may, in some cases, be below Western standards. There may be occasions when specified accommodation may change at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control. Lionsraw will provide alternative accommodation of similar standard in this instance.

Lionsraw use local transport for our volunteers which may be very different to your home country. Public buses, tuk-tuks and shared taxis are common and the most efficient and economical ways to get around. We do not usually use private tourist transport as the cost can be considerable and detracts from the experience of being a volunteer and part of the in country team, although this may be provided as circumstances dictate..

Travel insurance

Lionsraw considers comprehensive travel insurance, provided by a well established company, to be of an absolutely essential nature. Please do not forget to take all documentation provided by your insurer with you when you travel. Travel insurance should be purchased upon confirmation of your volunteer placement, you must declare to your insurer the nature of your volunteer work.

It is a condition of booking for this project that all volunteers have a valid travel insurance policy to cover the entire duration of their trip which extends to include volunteer work. If you are unable to provide documentary evidence of a valid insurance policy on request, your booking may be cancelled at the sole discretion of Lionsraw without any refund.

Health and medical consent

Visit your doctor for your vaccinations, tell your doctor where you will be going and that you will be working with children and / or animals, you can then discuss the vaccines required. Some vaccines can take months to become active so please consult your doctor at the earliest possible opportunity.

It is each volunteer’s responsibility to ensure you are fully informed about any possible health risks you will be taking when attending one of our projects.

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions you agree that Lionsraw or project staff can give consent for you to be treated if you are unable to give that consent for yourself due to your medical condition.

Working with Children and Animals

Lionsraw only operates and partners with responsible organisations that align with our charitable objectives. At our projects and partner projects the charitable objectives always come first and the volunteers assist the projects in achieving those objectives. Activities vary depending upon the time that volunteers are present at the project but will always be part of the long term objectives of the project. We do not partner with irresponsible projects that are set up as businesses or encourage contact with wild animals or use animals as photo opportunities for tourists. We do not partner with irresponsible children’s organisations, only those that align with our objectives and that have robust child protection policies.

Visas and flights

You are solely responsible for arranging all your visa and transportation needs related to participation in the Legacy Tour. We will not be held liable for your being refused access to any country or transportation due to failure by you to obtain the correct documentation.

Lionsraw and partner organisations will not be responsible for any extra costs incurred due to flight cancellations or delays.

Force Majeure

Lionsraw will not be deemed to be in breach of these terms and conditions in the case of Force Majeure. We cannot accept liability, pay compensation or meet any additional costs or expenses of the volunteer in these situations. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY. BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT, I AM AGREEING TO RELEASE LIONSRAW AND ITS EMPLOYEES AND SHORT-‐TERM PARTICIPANTS FROM LIABILITY. I HAVE THEREFORE BEEN ADVISED TO READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING IT.

I will be serving in a LIONSRAW program as a short‐term participant. It is my understanding that serving in this program is voluntary. Because I have chosen to participate, I am signing this Insurance Coverage, Release of Liability, and Consent to Medical Treatment form.

A. INSURANCE COVERAGE

I understand that I will work with Lionsraw in obtaining travel medical insurance, including evacuation and repatriation, for the time I will be serving in Lionsraw programs as a short-‐term participant. I also understand that Lionsraw strongly recommends I have full health insurance coverage in the country of my origin that will remain in effect during my service with Lionsraw. Lionsraw does not provide health insurance, disability insurance, worker’s compensation, travelers’ insurance, emergency evacuation coverage, life insurance or other insurance coverage for injuries, illnesses, property damage or loss, or death that I may experience during my participation in this program with Lionsraw as a short-term participant.

B. RELEASE OF LIABILITY

During my short-term service with Lionsraw, I will be traveling outside my country of origin. I acknowledge now, prior to my participation in this service, that there are certain risks associated with domestic and international travel, including by way of example, airplane and vehicle accidents, hijacking, kidnapping, piracy, and other criminal activities. In addition, I acknowledge that, while preparing for and engaging in activities at home and abroad for Lionsraw, there is a risk that I may experience accidents, disease, illness and inadequate medical care. I understand that there may be other risks involved in my participation in short‐term service of which I may not be presently aware.

By signing this Release of Liability, I expressly assume these risks, whether such risks are known or unknown to me at this time. I further release Lionsraw, its employees, short-‐term participants, agents and representatives from any claim that I may have against them as a result of physical or mental injury incurred during the course of my preparation for and participation in the program. This release of liability shall include (without limitation) any and all claims that I may have against Lionsraw, its employees, short-‐term participants, agents and representatives for their negligent acts or omissions in planning, carrying out or supporting the program and my short-term service, or in seeking my participation. This Release of Liability is also intended to cover all claims that members of my family or my estate, heirs, representatives, or assigns may have against Lionsraw, its employees, short-term participants, agents and representatives.

In addition, I agree that if Lionsraw, its employees or short-term participants, agents or representatives incurs any liability as a result of this Release or any part of it being declared invalid or unenforceable, or otherwise as a result of the filing of any of the claims described above, or a claim by a health care provider, emergency service provider, or other third party, I will fully reimburse, indemnify and hold harmless Lionsraw and any affected Lionsraw employees, short-term participants, agents or representatives for all such liability.
